Torbay Aged Care and Retirement Villages
Torbay Aged Care and Retirement Village , Torquay (‘Torbay–Torquay’), is a 165-place aged care Home plus 159 Independent Living Units (also called ‘villas’), all set in 12 hectares (30 acres) of landscaped gardens, rainforest and lakes. Torbay–Torquay is centrally located in Hervey Bay and is just 1.2 km from Torquay beach. Walking paths abound throughout the Village with a wheelchair-accessible path through our rainforest to ‘Central Station’, a seating area in the middle of the rainforest walk. The path continues around our Lakes where you can sit in the rotundas and enjoy the wildlife that live in and around the Lakes. A short distance away you can check on the chooks and the residents’ vegetable gardens.
Support available
Torbay–Torquay has 24-hour on-site coverage by Registered Nurses with support from Enrolled Nurses and personal carers. Our qualified Diversional Therapist (Activity Staff) puts liveliness into the Village and will keep you smiling and active. Our chefs at The Village Caterer provide healthy scrumptious meals. They can cater for all your dietary needs. Our support staff (Kitchen, Domestic, Maintenance, Garden, Office and Laundry) all contribute to making your life easier at TORBAY.
MAIN SECTION
Main Section has 70 low care places providing ageing in place. It was completely re-developed in 2003/2004 and has modern single rooms with ensuite. This section consists of groups of 8 to 10 units surrounded by spacious lawns and gardens. All rooms have a pleasant aspect with views to the lawns and gardens.
RAINFOREST LODGE
Rainforest Lodge provides dementia care for 20 high care residents in individual rooms with shared ensuite. It is located adjacent to our rainforest, hence its name. The lounge, dining room and some resident rooms have views of the rainforest. The building is designed around the central lounge and dining area with two private lounges for family visits. One of these lounges has very pleasant views overlooking the Lakes area.
REG SHAW ADVANCED CARE WING
The Advanced Care Wing provides high care for 30 residents including 3 respite care places. This Wing was re-developed in 2005 into a modern spacious high care facility with individually air-conditioned rooms. Ten of the rooms share an ensuite while the rest have their own ensuite. This Wing has three lounge areas and a sunroom.
DONALD McBAIN SPECIAL CARE WING
Our Special Care Wing provides high care to 14 dementia sufferers who wander. This facility is built around a central shaded courtyard. It was designed to allow the residents to continually wander in safety in and around the Courtyard as well as outside. Residents have their own room as well as two lounges and an activity area.
SHAWHAVEN HIGH CARE WING
Shawhaven was constructed in 2001 as an extra service high care facility to provide care for 29 residents. There are 23 very spacious single rooms with ensuite, 2 rooms that share an ensuite and 2 rooms for couples. Shawhaven has three lounges and is fully air-conditioned for the comfort of residents.
