OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Torbay Retirement Villages Limited operates with a voluntary Board of Directors. The Directors are elected for a three year term by the Members of the Company.
To become a Member you need to be recommended by an existing Member and then be accepted for Membership of the company.
Our current Board of Directors:
PRESIDENT Ted Killer

Term of Office: Director since March 1994. Secretary from October 2001 to September 2002. Vice President April 2005 to August 2006. President from August 2006
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Ted has spent 40 years with Queensland Education. He graduated from Queensland University in 1969 with a Batchelor of Education. He served 20 years as Deputy Principal/Acting Principal at the Hervey Bay High School responsible for up to 1000 students and up to 100 teachers and ancillary staff. He has been a member of Council of the Fraser Coast Anglican College since inception. He has been a Rotarian for over 30 years, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay City.
VICE PRESIDENT Colin Carr
Term of Office: Director from November 1995 to February 2005 and since April 2005
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Colin is a retired Pharmacist. He had his own Pharmacy business in Scarness for many years. He is a past member of the Lions Club of Hervey Bay.
VICE PRESIDENT Noel Squire M.B.E.
Term of Office: Director since November 2005.
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Noel is a retired Royal Australian Air Force Wing Commander engineer. He has a wide range of both experience and expertise in engineering management, training and facilities management. He was awarded the dignity of Member of the Order of the British Empire for his military achievements and involvement in the community. Noel has been a long serving member of the Lions organisation resulting in the
awarding of a Melvin Jones Fellowship.
DIRECTOR David Patterson
Term of Office: Director since August 2001.
Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Chair of the Finance Committee
David spent 39 years of his working life in the Banking Industry as an Accountant and senior Manager.
He and his wife Anne operated a Long Day Child Care Service. David is now an accountant with H&R Block, taxation specialists.
DIRECTOR Angela Lane
Term of Office: Director since September 2007.
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Angela has a background in small business. She and her late Husband operated Hervey Bay Taxis and then the Reef Motel in Torquay. Angela was involved with the Lioness Club in Hervey Bay for several years. She is currently a Director of a State wide storage shed business.
DIRECTOR Lesley Barry
Term of Office: Director since September 2007.
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Lesley had a twenty five year secondary teaching career in NSW for both Catholic Schools and the NSW Department of Education. During that time Lesley was a Careers Adviser, a Head Teacher and a Project Co-ordinator. Lesley relocated to Hervey Bay with her husband. Lesley is a Member of the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay City.
DIRECTOR Robert John Summers
Term of Office: Director since September 2007.
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Bob is a retired Inspector of the Queensland Police Service, having served for 30 years in various places and sections. He is the recipient of the Queensland Police Service Medal and the National Medal. Whilst a member of the Service he held the positions of Director/Secretary of the Police Co-operative Housing Society. He also held the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the Police Commissioned Officers Union. Bob is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
DIRECTOR Gail Hinks
Term of Office: Director since October 2007.
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Gail is a casual employee with the Education Department as an Administration Officer. She was Secretary of the Hervey Bay Touch Assoc from 1996 until 2010 and is currently a volunteer Ambassador at the Fraser Coast Regional Council Visitor Information Centre. Gail is also a Justice of the Peace (Qual).
DIRECTOR Dr. Selwyn Brindley
Term of Office: Director since October 2007.
Skills, Experience and Expertise: Sel is a retired Lecturer in Mathematics, Engineering. IT and Dean of Science and Technology with 2 Masters and a PhD from Calgary, Canada. He was a director of an Instant Oil Change company and consulted on various projects in Education, Oil Industry, Real Estate and numerous PhD and Masters degrees. Since returning to Australia in 96 Sel has been treasurer of the Bay Support Service and St James Lutheran Church.
